The Pavane variety belongs to the species Poa pratensis. In documentation from the 1978–1985 period, it was described as a tetraploid variety.

The plant was intended for lawn use and the landscaping of sports grounds. At present, the variety is considered historical and is not included in current registers of modern lawn crops.
