The variety Troy is classified as a forage type of Poa pratensis. Unlike turf varieties, it does not require intensive maintenance, including regular dethatching, application of high doses of nitrogen fertilizers, or complex irrigation systems.

The plant possesses high cold hardiness and good adaptation to cold climates. The variety effectively tolerates frequent livestock grazing, which makes it suitable for use in agricultural purposes.
