The variety is a female clone obtained by crossing Populus deltoides and Populus nigra. The plant forms a straight cylindrical trunk and a spreading crown with large leaves.
This poplar is intended for short-rotation plantations for bioenergy purposes and is also used for forage. The crop prefers sandy soils with good water access and possesses high growth energy.
The variety is resistant to poplar scab (Venturia) and tolerates Marssonina brunnea well, with moderate susceptibility to rust. The tree is drought-tolerant, however, a high degree of branching can create difficulties during mechanized harvesting.
