The variety is of Spanish origin and is often cited in scientific publications as a test subject for evaluating agroclimatic requirements. The plant is characterized by a chilling requirement in the range of 771–806 units.
The fruits are described as large, round, and firm. In terms of texture, they can be slightly mealy and dry, possess mediocre flavor, however, the variety is suitable for processing into canned goods. Ripening occurs one day earlier than that of the Blenheim variety.
