The GINESTA variety has spherical fruits with whitish or cream skin and white flesh of delicate taste. The variety is self-compatible and requires about 400 hours of winter chilling at temperatures below 7 °C, which makes it adapted to the Mediterranean climate.
Due to its characteristics, the variety is used in breeding programs as a parent form for creating new varieties resistant to climatic changes. When cultivating, it should be noted that the variety is susceptible to the Plum pox virus (Sharka).
