The Bassanese variety belongs to the traditional autochthonous varieties of the Veneto region. In morphological classifiers, it often serves as a reference specimen when describing specific characteristics of sweet cherry fruits.
The fruits of this variety are distinguished by a dark skin color, on the surface of which there is a large number of lenticels. The variety is a historical asset of the Bassano del Grappa area; however, a detailed agrotechnical map for it is unavailable.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
