The variety is a compact form of the well-known Bing sweet cherry. The plant is characterized by less vigorous growth, which distinguishes it from the classic variety and simplifies management in commercial and amateur orchards.

Like the original variety, Bing Compact is self-incompatible and requires the presence of pollinator varieties that bloom during the same period. Detailed morphological characteristics, such as precise tree height or ripening times, are not standardized in open publications.
