The variety is an old type of sweet cherry found in certain regions of Italy, including Emilia-Romagna. There is no data regarding a specific breeder, and it is classified as a local genetic variety traditionally grown in home gardens.

The fruits of the variety have a yellow skin with a red blush. Agronomic descriptions note some resistance of the fruits to cracking, while the variety may be susceptible to the cherry fruit fly. Currently, the variety is practically not found in current commercial catalogs.
