The variety belongs to the early sweet cherry group, ripening in the first week of the season. The fruits are characterized by black skin, a fairly large size, soft flesh, and pigmented juice.

The plant has good vigor and is described as a healthy and productive variety. In the early 20th century, several different forms were encountered under this name, which complicates identification.

It is practically not found in modern commercial fruit growing, having been displaced by more modern varieties. It is preserved mainly in old orchards and genetic bank collections.
