ActivePrunus avium (L.) L. · Sweet cherry
David W.Cain
10 August 2026
The variety is a product of folk selection, having received its name from its place of origin in the Kerniel area. The fruits of this variety fall into the small and soft category, which, combined with its regional status, has led to its gradual displacement from commercial fruit growing by more productive varieties.
Fruit ripening occurs in July. Visually, the fruits have black skin and black flesh. Historically, the variety was often mentioned in professional catalogs as having local significance, however, specialized data on agrotechnical features and tree disease resistance are absent.
