The tree is vigorous with a large rounded crown and strong branches. The variety is self-incompatible and requires the presence of pollinator varieties, such as «Große Schwarze Knorpelkirsche», «Büttners Rote Knorpelkirsche», «Dönissens gelbe Knorpelkirsche», «Schneiders späte Knorpelkirsche» and «Hedelfinger». Flowering is mid-season, relatively resistant to spring frosts, while wood resistance to severe frosts is low.
Fruits are medium-sized, broad-heart-shaped, with thin dark red, almost black skin. The flesh is soft, juicy, with a pleasant sweet-and-sour taste, and separates well from the pit. The variety is demanding of growing conditions, prefers warm, light sandy soils and protected sites; on cold and wet soils, it is prone to gummosis. The fruits are not resistant to cracking during rain.
