The variety is the result of long-term local selection and is genetically identical to such Croatian varieties as Tugarka, Creska, and Kujevačka. The genotype is characterized by the S-allele constitution S3S12.
The collective name LOVRANSKA encompasses a group of sub-varieties (clones) that differ in their characteristics: Cvetići, Duraža, Matešinka, Opatijka, Fruštejka, and Brtošinka. The fruits are used for fresh consumption and culinary processing.
