The variety was obtained by open pollination of a breeding line that is a hybrid of the Bing and Earlisweet varieties. The tree is characterized by moderately vigorous, vertically directed branch growth. The chilling requirement is approximately 600 hours; the variety is self-incompatible and requires pollinators.
The fruits are round or slightly flattened in shape. The flesh is yellow, firm, with a sugar content of about 15 °Brix. The ripening period occurs in mid-May, approximately two weeks ahead of the Bing variety. Due to the firmness of the skin, the fruits are resistant to spotting and mechanical damage during transport.
