The variety was introduced into cultivation around 1870 in the town of Werder (Havel). In the first half of the 20th century, it was widely distributed in Brandenburg and was recommended for cultivation by the local chamber of agriculture.

The variety belongs to the 4th cherry week; fruits ripen simultaneously. Sources refer to it as a sweet cherry, however, detailed fruit characteristics, tree height, and disease resistance indicators are not described. The variety is included in the “Red List of endangered local cultivated plants of Germany”.
