Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a chance seedling discovered around 1850 in Germany. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and forms a high pyramidal crown. It belongs to late-maturing varieties; fruits ripen in mid to late July.

Fruits are very large, up to 30 mm in diameter and weighing up to 13 grams, with a broad heart shape and a clearly visible suture. The firm, matte-glossy skin ranges from reddish-brown to black-brown in color. The flesh is firm, juicy, with a harmonious sweet-and-sour flavor.

The variety has winter hardiness and is suitable for both commercial and amateur gardening. It is self-infertile and requires the presence of pollinator varieties for fruit set, such as Hedelfinger Riesenkirsche, Büttners rote Knorpelkirsche, or Regina.
