The variety is a local cultivated plant of the Baden region. The fruits possess an intense aroma, which is why the variety is traditionally used for making Black Forest cherry brandy. The fruits are intended for mechanical harvesting by shaking the tree.
The variety is self-incompatible and requires the presence of pollinator varieties; the S-allele genetic profile is S6S7. It is included in gene bank collections as a selected traditional variety adapted to the growing conditions in the Black Forest.
