The variety is a local folk landrace from the Czech Republic, the origin of which remains unknown. In scientific literature, it is considered primarily as an object for gene pool conservation.

Genetically, the variety belongs to the self-incompatibility group S1S4 (group IX) and possesses unique alleles characteristic of Czech populations. The variety has been a subject of research in studying chilling requirements for breaking dormancy.
