The tree has high vigor and a spreading crown, reaching a height of 6 to 12 meters. The fruits are kidney-shaped or heart-shaped, weigh 6–7.5 grams, and the skin is colored dark red or red-yellow.
The fruit flesh is yellow, firm, and sweet. Harvesting usually takes place from the end of May through June. The variety is self-fertile, productive, and sensitive to late spring frosts.
It is traditionally consumed fresh and is also used for making jams, syrups, liqueurs, and pastries. It is known by the synonyms Zuccaro, Zucchero, Durona zuccherina and Cirasa a zucchero.
