Myrobolan B is a vegetatively propagated clone of Prunus cerasifera Ehrh., used as a rootstock in nurseries for growing plum, cherry plum, apricot, and peach seedlings. It is not a variety intended for fruit production, as the fruits have no commercial value.
Trees grafted onto this rootstock are characterized by vigorous growth and the formation of a large crown. The rootstock adapts well to various soil types, including heavy, wet, and light sandy soils, and possesses good compatibility with most European and Japanese plum, apricot, and peach varieties.
The rootstock is propagated vegetatively using hardwood cuttings and layers. Scientific literature notes its susceptibility to plum pox virus and sensitivity to certain root diseases.
