The rootstock was selected from a local population of cherry plum in eastern Slovakia. In nursery conditions, it is distinguished by characteristic red leaves and the almost complete absence of thorns on the shoots.
The plant is characterized by winter hardiness and propagates easily by softwood and hardwood cuttings. The rootstock is demanding of soil quality, and its root system is sensitive to drying out during planting.
It is used for production and breeding purposes as a rootstock for grafting plum and cherry plum. When used as a rootstock, compatibility issues have been noted with some plum varieties, for example, the Althann's Gage variety.
