The term RECTA characterizes the upright crown habit of the Marasca cherry, in contrast to the weeping form of the same species. Fruits of this type are distinguished by a dark color, small size, and are traditionally used for the production of alcoholic beverages.
This type possesses resistance to Coccomyces hiemalis and is self-fertile, which ensures more stable fruit bearing under unfavorable weather conditions. In terms of ripening, the form is one week ahead of a number of other varieties.
