The Suistamo tree has medium to high vigor, forming a conical-shaped crown of medium density. The bark of young shoots is dark gray. The leaves are of medium size, oblong-oval in shape with an acute tip, and have a wrinkled dark green surface.

The fruits are small, round, and dark purple with a waxy bloom. The fruit flesh is green, juicy, and sweet in taste; the pit is difficult to separate. The variety is self-fertile, late-ripening, and characterized by high winter hardiness.
