The Coeur de Lion Morettini tree, also known as Morettini 355, is characterized by vigorous growth and a spreading crown, reaching a height of 4 to 6 meters. The variety is self-incompatible; it is recommended to use other Japanese plum varieties for pollination, for example, Shiro. Grafting is possible onto Myrobalan or St. Julien rootstocks, while the use of sloe is not recommended.

The fruits are heart-shaped, with an average weight of 55–65 g and a dark red color with a waxy bloom. The flesh is juicy and aromatic, but it becomes sour upon thermal processing. The pit is prone to fragmentation, which can affect the taste of the flesh. The variety has winter hardiness down to -20°C and is characterized by a yield in the range of 30–50 kg per tree.

Due to the tenderness of the fruits, the variety is characterized by low transportability. Despite high productivity, these features have led to a gradual reduction in its commercial use.
