Trees of the Columbia variety are characterized by high productivity. The fruits are distinguished by their large size and attractive appearance; however, in terms of taste qualities, they are inferior to other varieties of the Greengage group.
The variety has a number of agrotechnical drawbacks, including a tendency for fruits to shed heavily and high susceptibility to fungal diseases, in particular to fruit rot (Monilinia). Historically, the variety was considered suitable for cultivation only under specific soil and climatic conditions.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
