In agronomic practice, «Domaća» is usually understood as the «Bistrica» variety, also known as Požegača or Mađarica. The fruits of this variety are small, with a mass of about 18 g, oval in shape, dark blue in color with a pronounced waxy bloom. The fruit flesh is yellow, juicy, with a good balance of sugar and acid; the pit separates easily from the flesh.
The variety ripens in early September. The fruits are versatile in use: they are suitable for drying, production of jams, compotes, and traditional alcoholic beverages. The tree is self-fertile, but starts bearing fruit late and is prone to biennial bearing, and also shows high sensitivity to Plum pox virus.
