The tree is characterized by medium-vigorous growth and a highly pyramidal crown, which becomes spreading with age. The variety blooms late and is self-fertile. It requires regular pruning for crown rejuvenation, as fruiting shifts to the periphery over time.

The fruits are medium-sized, have an elongated shape, sometimes with a “beak”. The skin is firm, dark violet-blue in color with a bloom. The flesh is yellow-green, dense and juicy when ripe; the stone separates well. The taste of the fruits is sweet, vinous, with a characteristic aroma.

The variety is sensitive to Plum pox virus, which is why it is often used as a reference susceptible material in scientific research. Under the name Domácí velkoplodá in the Czech Republic, a number of clones with similar characteristics, also known as karlátka, are combined.
