The Gemerska variety, also known as Gemerer Zwetschge or Węgierka Gemerska, is an old local variety of Prunus domestica. It belongs to the prune group, which determines the oblong shape of the fruits. The variety is of interest from the perspective of preserving genetic diversity.
The fruits of the variety possess good taste qualities. The variety is distinguished by high fertility. Historically, the fruits of this variety were widely used by the local population in processing, in particular, for the preparation of plum butter.
