Gi 148/1 is a hybrid obtained by crossing Prunus cerasus (cv. Schattenmorelle) and Prunus canescens. The object is used exclusively as a clonal rootstock and is not intended for fruit production.
The rootstock provides tree vigor at 60% of standard seedling rootstocks such as Mazzard. It is adapted to various soil types, including heavy ones, and possesses resistance to a number of cherry viruses. Varieties grafted onto it are characterized by early fruit bearing and high productivity.
