Varieties of the Regina Claudia group originate from 16th-century France. The trees are medium-sized and, under favorable conditions, reach a height of 5–6 meters, often having a spreading crown shape with an irregular branching pattern.

The fruits are medium-sized and round, the skin is thin, and the color depends on the specific subtype and can vary from yellow-green to purple. The fruit flesh is yellow, juicy, with a distinct aroma and sweet taste, suitable for fresh consumption, desserts, and preservation.

The plants are considered hardy and well-adapted to various conditions; however, they are susceptible to diseases typical for stone fruits, including Monilinia and bacterial canker, as well as pests such as aphids and plum fruit moth.
