The Sugar Top variety was obtained as part of the breeding program of the University of Bologna. Genetically, it is the result of crossing the Susino II and Stanley varieties.
The plant is intended for drying, which is confirmed by its high suitability for the production of prunes. The variety is characterized by increased sugar accumulation in the fruits.
