Wiechel is a traditional regional plum form that is not a bred variety in the modern sense. The plant belongs to a group of primitive plums along with forms such as Kricke, Ziparte and Spilling.
The fruits are blue, have a mild taste, and ripen in September. A characteristic morphological feature is the presence of a pubescent peduncle. Traditionally, these forms are used in local landscape gardening to maintain biodiversity.
