ActivePrunus dulcis (Mill.) D. A. Webb · Almond
Pedro Martinez Gomez, Encarnacion Ortega Pastor, Federico Dicenta Lopez-Higuera, Jose Egea Caballero,
10 August 2026
The tree reaches 4–5 meters in height at maturity. The medium-sized nuts have a soft shell, are easily cracked by hand, and their kernels have a sweet and mild taste. Harvesting usually occurs in late summer or early autumn.
The variety is resistant to low temperatures during the flower bud formation period, but requires planting in areas protected from strong winds. Due to the risk of diseases, the variety is not recommended for cultivation in regions with a humid climate; sunny areas with good drainage are preferred.
Data on the self-fertility of the variety are contradictory: in a number of sources, it is described as self-infertile, in others as self-fertile or partially self-fertile, which may be due to the influence of growing conditions.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
