The variety is of Italian origin and has been historically cultivated in the vicinity of the city of Bari. The tree has medium vigor and a spreading crown shape, and is characterized by early fruit bearing and a medium-late flowering period. Harvesting occurs in the third ten-day period of August.

An important characteristic is self-compatibility, which allows for establishing orchards without pollinator varieties. Yield is high and stable. The fruits are oblong in shape and brown in color; the shell is hard and moderately porous. The kernels are elliptical, small, with a sweet taste and wrinkled skin; double seeds are absent.
