The plant possesses high drought tolerance and the ability to withstand significant winter temperature drops. The variety is known as an important genetic resource, from which hybrid rootstocks such as Garnem, Felinem and Monegro have been developed.
An important characteristic is the variety's ability to induce resistance to plum pox virus in stone fruit crops grafted onto it, which is known in scientific literature as the Garrigues effect.
