The Genco variety is self-fertile, which distinguishes it from most almond varieties that require cross-pollination. The plant is a deciduous tree or shrub, with flowering occurring early, in March–April.
The fruits of the variety are drupes that require the removal of the pericarp upon ripening. The almond kernels of this variety are characterized by a high content of phenolic compounds and oiliness, typical of sweet almonds.
