The variety originates from the vicinity of Martina Franca in the province of Taranto and is distributed in the neighboring areas of Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni. The fruits have an expanded elliptical shape and are distinguished by a very thick shell with high pore density.
The kernel is heart-shaped with a wrinkled, dark brown surface and a closed ventral suture. By its characteristics, the variety belongs to the mid-late ripening category.
