The variety is autochthonous to southern Portugal and is maintained by regional agricultural authorities. To ensure fruiting, the variety requires the presence of pollinators, for example, the Duro da Estrada variety, while it is incompatible with the pollen of a number of other varieties, including Côco Grado.
The plant belongs to an early flowering group. At present, detailed morphological characteristics of the tree, such as height, disease resistance, as well as detailed fruit quality indicators, are not recorded in available materials.
