The Mingunna tree has medium vigor. The fruits have an oblong shape. The nut shell is thick with low pore density, and the ventral suture is closed.
The kernel is medium-sized, broadly elliptical in shape, and covered with a wrinkled dark brown skin. The kernel is characterized by a sweet taste. The variety is mid-season, with ripening occurring in the second to third ten-day period of August.
Mingunna is an ancient variety included in the local germplasm bank of Apulia. It is traditionally used in the confectionery industry, in particular as an ingredient for Ceglie biscuits.
