CALRICO is a breeding clone (selection) of the late-maturing peach variety Calanda. The fruits are characterized by pubescence, firm skin, and yellow non-melting flesh, which ensures their suitability for long-term storage and transportation.
The variety is being studied for its suitability for cultivation in calcareous soils and sites with soil fatigue. Tree height depends on the rootstock used, as the variety is often employed in experiments studying the influence of rootstocks on agronomic productivity.
In scientific literature, CALRICO is used as a model specimen for studying late-maturing peach varieties, testing irrigation strategies, and methods of non-destructive fruit quality assessment.
