GIALLA TARDIVA DI LEONFORTE is the result of centuries of folk selection in the hilly area of Leonforte. It is a late-maturing ecotype, the fruits of which ripen from September to October, and sometimes until November, which is significantly later than other commercial varieties.
The fruits have a yellow color with red shades and firm, sweet flesh. The traditional cultivation technology involves individual bagging of each fruit in a paper bag directly on the tree, which prevents damage by pests without the use of chemical protection agents.
This ecotype is among the varieties protected by the Pesca di Leonforte IGP brand. The plants are trained in the form of a simple vase or spindle; specific data on tree height are not recorded.
