The variety belongs to the winter maturity group. The fruits have the shape characteristic of the "bergamot" group — oblate and flattened at the stalk.

This variety is an independent European cultivar, which should not be confused with Russian or Soviet breeding varieties that have the word "bergamot" in their name, or with the citrus plant Citrus × bergamia.
