The Krameri võipirn variety was obtained as a result of breeding work started in 1937 and introduced in 1961. Genealogically, the variety originates from a cross between Williams Christ and Dr. Jules Guyot varieties.

The name of the Krameri võipirn variety translates from Estonian as "Kramer's butter pear," which attests to its dessert purpose and the tender melting flesh characteristic of the butter pear type. Detailed agronomic characteristics of the plant and fruit are not provided in available scientific publications.
