ActiveRibes nigrum L. · Blackcurrant
University of Bristol L Asthom (GB)
10 August 2026
The bush is vigorous, upright, 1–1.5 m in height. Berries are large, weighing 1.8–2 g, round or round-oval in shape, with matte black skin. The firm skin ensures dry detachment, which makes the variety suitable for mechanical harvesting.
The variety possesses high self-fertility and good winter hardiness. Berry ripening is simultaneous. The pulp has a sweet-and-sour taste and a blackcurrant aroma. The plant is characterized by low resistance to powdery mildew, while being resistant to rust.
