Mesma is a selection from natural populations of Arctic raspberry. The plant is a low-growing perennial subshrub, the height of which usually does not exceed 30 cm. The variety is characterized by pink flowers; berry ripening occurs in July.
The fruits are dark purple in color, resemble raspberries in shape, and are distinguished by a characteristic aroma and flavor. The berries are intended for fresh consumption or processing into jams and liqueurs.
The variety is self-sterile, so to obtain a yield it is necessary to grow several different varieties or clones together to ensure cross-pollination. Yield and fruit set depend on environmental conditions and the presence of pollinators.
