The variety has a complex genetic background, including the species Salix aegyptiaca, Salix schwerinii, Salix viminalis, and Salix lanceolata. It was developed for conditions requiring increased resistance to warmer and drier climatic conditions compared to standard varieties.

The plant is characterized by rapid growth during the juvenile period and the ability for intensive vegetative regeneration after harvesting. The variety may be susceptible to damage by pests, particularly leaf beetles, and resistance to diseases such as willow rust is rated as inconsistent.
