The variety Viva belongs to energy willows (Short Rotation Coppice) and is intended for the production of woody biomass used in the manufacture of wood chips, pellets, and briquettes. The plant is characterized by high productivity and potential for rapid growth in the climatic conditions of Poland.
The plant possesses the ability for renewable growth in perennial cycles, with the period before harvesting usually being two to three years. The variety was selected within the framework of programs to identify high-efficiency clones for the establishment of energy plantations.
