The Petka variety is known in the scientific community as a standard genetic specimen used for creating homozygous lines, studying the rye karyotype, and gene mapping. It is not a modern commercial hybrid intended for industrial cultivation.
This genotype should not be confused with the historical Petkus rye. Available publications lack information on commercial characteristics of the variety, such as maturity group, plant height, or disease resistance in field conditions, as the primary purpose of the variety is limited to the field of genetics.
