The variety is an evergreen shrub with a compact structure and simple aromatic leaves. The plant belongs to the male forms of the species, which determines its primary use in gardening as a pollinator to ensure fruiting of female plants.

The plant requires locations protected from direct sunlight and wind for growth. It prefers humic, slightly acidic or acidic soils and needs cover under severe winter conditions.
