The variety belongs to the subspecies Solanum tuberosum subsp. andigena and has been cultivated in the Canary Islands since ancient times. It is a local variety whose preservation is supported by farmers within the Papas Antiguas de Canarias group.

Tubers have a predominantly round shape. The skin is light brown, sometimes with reddish-purple spots, or yellowish-brown. The flesh is cream-colored. The skin of this variety is less coarse compared to the Azucena Negra variety.
