The Benol variety was bred using wild and cultivated potato species, including Solanum vernei, to provide resistance to pests. The variety's genealogy records a cross between the Waalster and VTN 62-33-3 lines.
The plant possesses resistance to potato cyst nematode species Globodera rostochiensis (pathotypes Ro 1, 2, 5) and Globodera pallida (pathotype Pa 2). The variety is intended for table use and is more frequently used in breeding programs as a source of resistance genes.
Precise information regarding plant morphology and maturity group in available scientific publications is limited, as the variety primarily appears in research as a genetic resource.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
